Journey Together

If you start a new Journey from scratch, you will be the only member of that Journey and start somewhere random in the world.

To spawn near your friends, you have to either share a Journey OR share a Spawn Code instead of creating a fresh Journey. Both methods allow you to invite new friends at any time, even after the Journey is created.

Choices of how to add a new Journey

Shared Journey

To share all progress on the server, everyone playing should join the same shared Journey. Sharing all progress means that warp points only have to be discovered by one person, but also that the warp point only drops loot once.

To share a Journey:

  1. One person should start a Fresh Journey if they do not already have one. (This player will become the owner of the shared Journey, and be the only one who can add more players later.)
  2. Everyone else should open the Journey Select menu if they are not already on it (/j), then navigate to Add Journey, then Join Shared Journey.
  3. While inside the Journey, the owner should run /journey invite. Everyone else’s name will appear in an invitation menu for the owner as long as the invitees are looking at the “Join” screen.

Shared Spawn Code

To share a spawn point only, each player should start their own Journey using the same Spawn Code. When playing on separate Journeys, each Journey must discover every warp point to unlock it, but as a bonus, warp points drop loot every time they are discovered.

To share a Spawn Code:

  1. One person should start a Fresh Journey if they do not already have one.
  2. The person who started the Fresh Journey will receive a six-letter Spawn Code. This code is shown in chat upon Journey creation, and is also visible in the Journey Select menu by hovering over a Journey name.
  3. Everyone else should open the Journey Select menu if they are not already on it (/j), then navigate to Add Journey, then Enter Spawn Code. Type this six-letter code, and a new separate Journey will be created that shares the same spawn point.

Comparison Chart

The methods of Journeying together are summarized below. Alternatively, you could choose to create separate fresh Journeys with no shared Spawn Code, and spawn alone. Remember that the server’s mechanics are centered around helping you find each other!

I don’t know which to pick!

Some general guidance if you’re not sure:

  • Share a Journey if you plan on cooperating with a few friends, exploring together most of the time, and sharing items.
  • Share a Spawn Code on separate Journeys if you want to play more independently, want your own loot, and don’t mind having to discover warp points individually.
  • Create a Fresh Journey with no shared Spawn Code if you want to take on the challenge of finding each other, and don’t mind playing separately before you do.

Mixing and Matching

It is also possible to mix and match Journey and Spawn Code sharing if you have a group of 3 or more. This diagram shows what that might look like:

Examples of different Journey configurations

Each “X” in the picture represents the spawn point of the Spawn Code next to it. Multiple Journeys can share a Spawn Code, meaning that those Journeys start together but unlock things separately. Players on Journeys that do not share a Spawn Code cannot see each other online until they find each other.
